About yow.com
The Domain
I was introduced to the Internet in 1992, and even then I saw the potential for the information it held. In December 1994, I registered yow.com, a three-letter .com domain that would become my digital home for the next three decades.
Only 17,576 three-letter .com domains exist. They're all registered. They're never released. And owning one since 1994 puts this site in an exclusive club of internet pioneers.
Just like the Colorado River carved out the Grand Canyon, the Internet has done the same in every facet of our daily life, for better or for worse. Through it all, yow.com has remained: a constant presence, a personal archive, and now a reminder that some corners of the internet are still owned by people, not corporations.
The Philosophy
This site exists for a few reasons:
- To document my 30+ year journey through the digital age
- To share tools and lessons learned along the way
- To prove that independent, personal websites can still thrive
- To have a space that's truly mine: not rented, not monetized beyond survival
If you appreciate what I'm doing here, consider supporting the site. If not, no worries. Enjoy your visit, and maybe you'll be inspired to carve out your own corner of the internet.
